RMH GRADUATES 35 NEW NURSES

Thirty-Five (35) Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) personnel that completed a 32-week Nursing Assistant course graduated today 17 August 2018 at Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH).

Thirty (30) men and five (5) women were certified with A2 and A1 academic levels.

The ceremony was presided over by the RDF Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Jacques Musemakweli who said that the army is delighted to acquire new nurses that will help in completing part of the RDF mandate; to cure and advise not only soldiers at the battlefield, but also ordinary citizens.

Lt. Gen. Musemakweli reminded them that the medical service is one of the aspects that made the liberation struggle a success as casualties were in good hands during a tough war.

“You have to be soldiers before becoming nurses. Be professionals and do not only focus on primary care but remember to always give advice to your patients, your fellow military personnel and Rwandans in general on preventing themselves against HIV/AIDS and other diseases because you have acquired a lot of knowledge now,” said Lt Gen J Musemakweli.

On behalf of the RDF, he promised a regular follow up and assistance in their new task and to advocate for the group in case they want to pursue further nursing courses and more specialised trainings.

I his remarks Col Dr JP Bitega, RMH Comdt told the graduates that they have acquired more specialized knowledge more than civilian nurses as they have been trained to provide medical care during the times of war and times of peace.
