RWANDA DEPLOYS LEVEL II HOSPITAL UNDER THE UN MISSION IN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

he Contingent Commander of the Level II Hospital deployed by Rwanda, Maj Doctor King Kayondo

explained that Level II Hospital under the United Nations could be compared to Rwandan District

Hospital with advanced equipments and medical specialists. Under the United Nations standards,

Level II Hospital should have the capacity of treating up to 40 ambulatory patients per day,

provide three intensive care beds, stabilize and evacuate a casualty for evacuation to the next

level of medical care among others.

With this launch RDF availed all medical equipments that will be needed in the mission and were

transported in Containers such as armoured ambulances and other soft skin vehicles that will be

serving the Peacekeeping Mission. All these equipments left Kigali in destination to Central

African Republic on 20 January 2015.

Rwanda Level II Hospital under MINUSCA disposes modern medical equipment and 69 medical

personnel ready to carry out their Mandate in MINUSCA and will be able to provide Surgical,

Internal Medicine, and Radiology services among others to MINUSCA Peacekeepers and International

Staffs.

Maj Dr Kayondo further noted that deploying a Level II Hospital for the first time in

Peace Keeping Operations was another milestone of Rwanda Defence Forces in preserving peace

and security in the world. "This is a signal that Rwanda has got medical personnel and

equipment with acceptable capacity at the international level as there are very few countries

able to deploy Level II Hospitals in peacekeeping missions"

 he insisted.
