Medical Army Week activities to support survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi have begun in Musanze. As part of the outreach programme, 48 genocide survivors will receive specialist surgery from doctors at the Rwanda Military Hospital. The activities are being run in partnership with the Government of Rwanda's programme to support survivors, known as FARG. 

Those receiving surgery were identified during Kwibuka20 Army Week activities held in June 2014. After initial consultations, doctors from the Rwanda Military Hospital noted those who required further treatment and scheduled their surgery. 

The services being offered include dermatology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Ophthalmology, Gynaecology and General Surgery. The services also include special exams such as MRI, CT Scan and other Internal Medicine exams needed by the patients. 

The welfare of genocide survivors is a priority for the Government of Rwanda and genocide survivor organisations.
